Spor li pou tou dimounn
We all know that exercise is good for just about everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, disability, faith or fitness level. It is essential to recognise the value of sport and physical activity in our daily lives, mental and physical well-being, productivity and future. Meeting the World Health Organisation recommendations would also go a long way towards creating healthier citizens, happier communities and a stronger nation.
Active Mauritius was launched by the Mauritius Sports Council with the aim to foster a nationwide culture of community sport and physical activity in order to promote health and well-being among all Mauritian people. Our strategy is to encourage, facilitate and support you to take part in enjoyable physical activity at any stage of your lifespan.
The overarching vision is to increase the number of people in our country who are actively engaged in quality sports, physical activity and physical education on a regular basis. This will help craft a fitter and healthier Mauritius while enhancing the contribution of sport to health, education, gender and youth development.
Active Mauritius consists of four targeted programmes aimed at addressing your specific needs according to your life-cycle stage, from childhood to teenage, adulthood and old age.
