Spor li pou tou dimounn

“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.” – Hippocrates

The Active Mauritius strategy developed and implemented by the Mauritius Sports Council is aligned with the philosophy underpinning the National Sport and Physical Activity Policy 2018-2028. Launched in October, this document lays the foundation for the development of sport and physical activity in Mauritius.

The Policy relies on increased community participation in organised sport and physical activity to:

  • strengthen the relationships that tie us together;
  • promote social integration by encouraging interactions and the development of networks between socially diverse groups;
  • generate health benefits that help improve our lives and work more effectively; and
  • promote individual and collective well-being.

From childhood to old age, physical activity is the foundation of healthy living for the whole community. The Mauritius Sports Council fully recognises the value of sport and exercise in society and through Active Mauritius, advocates the widespread practice of sports as a means to achieve the policy’s objectives.

Apart from improving health and well-being, the programme can also contribute to the economy, individual development as well as culture and identity of Mauritius.
